PV-Basics, Electricity for Photovoltaic Systems starts Sept. 11

 

Prepare for a career in the Photovoltaic (Solar) Energy industry with PV-Basics, Electricity for Photovoltaic Systems, a 21-hour course offered by the Workforce Development Institute (WDI) from Sept. 11 to 29, 2012.

As an introduction to Solar Energy, students learn basic electrical skills, including:

  • Basic Electrical Theory
  • Electrical Measurements
  • Electrical Devices
  • Electrical Wiring
  • Practical Wiring Skills
  • Solar Panel Electrical Requirements

Classes will be held on campus in Williams Hall Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuition is $395, plus approximately $100 for the textbook, Photovoltaic Systems (optional). Students also must provide their own safety glasses with side panels, work gloves and a wire skinning knife.

Earn the WDI Photovoltaic Systems Certificate by successfully completing the following:

  • PV-Basics, Electricity for Photovoltaic Systems
  • PV-Entry Level Photovoltaics (Solar Power)
  • PV-Advanced (Photovoltaic-Solar) Electric Systems
  • NABCEP Entry Level Exam
