“Reading Buddies” information session date correction

Please join Literacy Volunteers’ staff on Thursday, Sept. 12 to learn how to share your love of reading with a child.

Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County is looking to partner with Hudson Valley Community College on an initiative to increase children’s prospects for success in school and beyond. The Everybody Wins Power Lunch program allows children from School 14 and Sacred Heart School in Troy, as well as Arbor Hill and Sheridan Preparatory Academy in Albany, to be selected as “reading buddies” for Hudson Valley employees or students who volunteer.

Your commitment is just 30 minutes per week for the school year to make a difference in the life of a child. You can also sign up with one or two of your colleagues and share the reading time if you are unable to make a weekly commitment. Interested?

Literacy Volunteers staff will be on campus, Thursday, Sept. 12 from noon to 1 p.m. in Amstuz 217 to provide information on this program. Please attend this session to learn more about helping local children get a better start on their future.
