NYS Trooper MacLauchlin recently spoke with the college’s Center for Careers and Transfer staff and students to share information about the pathway to a rewarding career with the New York State Police (NYSP).
Since 1917, the NYSP has been serving, protecting, and defending the people of New York while preserving the rights and dignity of all.
NYS Trooper Role: Preventive patrols, assist motorists and members of the public, conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations, and provide emergency and disaster services.
Advancement: Opportunities for promotions and specialized service work including, but not limited to, Canine Unit, Marine Detail, Motorcycle Unit, and more.
Salary: Starting at $57,297 during academy, increasing to $81,056 after one year.

Requirements: By the application deadline, you must be a United States citizen, have a high school graduate/equivalency diploma, be at least 20 years old, and not have reached your 30th birthday. (An age extension may apply for those who have served active duty military time. Upon acceptance into the training academy, you must have 60 credit hours of college coursework and be a NYS resident.
