Over 1,200 new students and 1,300 guests already have registered to attend New Student Orientation on Saturday, August 20.
The informative and fun-filled day includes an interactive General Session for students and an innovative presentation for parents and guests. The general session for students addresses what is expected of students academically and behaviorally, what support services are available, and what opportunities for engagement in student life exist on campus. The general session for parents and guests addresses how parents may assist students in being successful.
Afterwards, six creative sessions will be offered multiple times to allow attendees to adapt the day to their individual needs. Sessions include: Academic Support Services; Money Matters—How to Manage All the Costs of Education; Getting Ready for Your Future—Career and Transfer Opportunities; Individual Studies/Liberal Arts and Sciences: A Gateway to Transfer Possibilities; Student Life; Veteran Services; and a Disability Resource Center Open House.
Approximately 30 information tables related to college services and clubs, athletics and student organizations will be stationed in the Siek Campus Center. The day will include a tasty continental breakfast and a barbecue style luncheon.
The day also features tours, enjoying music by TS Ensemble, chances to win a tuition waiver valued at $1,000, a new Lenovo laptop computer and other prizes, and opportunities to meet with various student-friendly staff. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the attention-grabbing program commences at 9 a.m.
