Regina Scarano LaGatta, the college’s chief advancement officer and executive director of The Foundation, received the Margaret Hoffman Riley ’29 Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Academy of Holy Names in Albany. The honor was bestowed during the school’s Partners in Education Scholarship Luncheon held in November.

The award acknowledges LaGatta’s “extraordinary efforts in providing a community where students can grow and learn in a positive and outstanding environment.” A 1970 alumna of the Academy, she is the 10th recipient of this prestigious honor and a member of the school’s Board of Trustees.
A 1973 Hudson Valley Community College graduate, LaGatta earned a B.S. degree at SUNY Brockport and a M.S. degree in Education at The College of Saint Rose. Following college, she worked as a Special Education teacher for eight years prior to assuming positions in community relations, marketing, and ultimately development and fundraising, at the Center for the Disabled (now known as the Center for Disability Services) in Albany.
LaGatta worked at Hudson Valley in the late 1980s to mid 1990s, before serving a decade as executive vice president/deputy executive officer at the Capital District YMCA. There she oversaw capital campaigns that raised more than $20 million and developed a culture of philanthropy that confirmed the “YMCA as the Community’s Charity of Choice.” Following service in leadership and development roles at SUNY Delhi and SUNY Cobleskill, LaGatta returned to Hudson Valley and her current position in 2014. The Office of Institutional Advancement was re-established in 2017.
