It is expected that all employees, students, visitors and contractors will be courteous and respectful of each other’s health and wear face masks or cloth coverings as required by the Face Mask and Glove Protocols.
Face masks or coverings are required to be worn by employees and students at all times while occupying common or shared spaces. Masks or coverings are required to be worn over the nose and mouth. Masks and coverings with exhalation valves are not permitted unless covered with a face mask.
Face masks and coverings may be removed when working alone in a workspace, when eating or drinking, or when more than six feet away from others in an outdoor setting. Face masks or coverings are required to be worn in common spaces such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, fitness rooms, break rooms, office suites, restrooms and kitchens even when no one else is present.
If a student or employee is not able to wear a face mask or cloth covering due to medical reasons, they should notify their supervisor or instructor, and the Center for Access and Assistive Technology. The individual will be issued a face shield that must be worn whenever a mask would be required.
When wearing face mask or cloth covering, individuals should:
- Make sure that they fit snugly and cover the nose and mouth
- Avoid touching the front surface as it is the most contaminated part; try to handle by the straps only
- Store in a clean, dry place when not in use
- Wash cloth face masks frequently, especially when soiled or wet
- Replace disposable surgical-style face masks when torn, dirty or wet
- Not become complacent with other protective measures
- NOT touch the mask or face
- Continue to be vigilant with thorough and frequent hand washing
- Practice respiratory etiquette and cover coughs and sneezes
- Frequently disinfect high touch surfaces and shared equipment
- Practice social distancing
