Reminder: Earth Day Activities and Lunch Monday April 22

Please join us for the college’s inaugural Earth Day Community Celebration on Monday, April 22! Enjoy lunch, new nature trails on campus and a chance to volunteer outdoors with students and colleagues during the afternoon!

FREE LUNCH!
Students, faculty and staff are invited to a free community luncheon at the Student Pavilion from noon to 2 p.m. Enjoy an outdoor cookout and time with colleagues, students and friends.

NEW NATURE TRAILS
At 12:30 p.m., join us for a short program of speakers to announce the college’s new nature trails and perimeter pathway, which are open to the community.

VOLUNTEER OUTDOORS!
Get outside from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and help spruce up the new trails and campus ahead of our year-end ceremonies. Teams of volunteers will work in teams with members of our Physical Plant and Environmental Health and Safety offices to prep flower beds and planters, plant trees, mulch trail areas and clean up debris. Employees who sign up will be excused from work for the afternoon. To sign up, complete the Earth Day Volunteer Activities form.

BIRDHOUSE PROJECT
Several college offices and employees are painting birdhouses to be installed in the woods along the nature trails on Earth Day. Those who are interested should contact Kate Teal (k.teal@hvcc.edu) to determine if supplies remain. Birdhouses are available while supplies last; first come, first served.

STUDENT SENATE INTERACTIVE PAINTING PROJECT
New! The college’s Student Senate and Student Art League club are sponsoring an interactive mural painting project. Embrace the energy of spring and spend time outdoors to connect with nature through art and creativity. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to pick up a brush and let nature inspire them through self-expression with hand-picked paints of blues and greens, two colors often seen around campus.
