Reminder: Student Senate and Athletic Retention Program begins Nov. 1

 

A reminder the Fall 2021 SSARP program requirements will begin for students enrolled in the program on Monday, Nov. 1. Please be aware SSARP students will need to complete the following weekly requirements to maintain their eligibility in intercollegiate athletics and Student Senate extracurricular activities for the remainder of the semester.

All students who wish to enroll into the program MUST attend the SSARP meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 27, where they will meet with the department of athletics and the academic coaches from the Center for Academic Engagement. We encourage all coaches to attend as well, if your schedule allows, so you can learn more about the SSARP program as well.

Meeting Date and Times
All Sports (except Football) – Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. in BTC Meeting Rooms
Football – Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. in BTC Meeting Rooms

SSARP Weekly Requirements
Weekly Programmatic Requirements — All student-athletes enrolled in the program will have to meet the weekly programmatic requirements below:
1.  Participants in the SSARP must meet 1-on-1 with an academic coach in the Center for Academic Engagement (Campus Center 230) at least once per week.
–If a student-athlete misses their designated meeting, they will be removed from the program.
2.  Participants must complete a Study Hour Tracking Sheet which indicates a minimum of five (5) verified study hours completed each week, which can be completed in any combination of the following learning centers: Center for Academic Engagement (CAE), Writing & Research Center, Learning Assistance Center (LAC), the Computer Learning Center (CLC).
–If a student-athlete fails to complete five (5) study hours, they will be removed from the program.
3.  Mandatory class attendance and weekly progress reports.
–If a student-athlete misses a class, they will be removed from the program.

The weekly Study Hour Tracking and Progress Report sheet must be turned in by noon on the following Monday to an academic coach at the Center for Academic Engagement.
