Budget Approval
I am pleased to announce that at its July 9 meeting, the Rensselaer County Legislature unanimously approved the college’s 2024-25 operating budget. The budget totals $106,105,178, which is a 7.2 percent increase from fiscal year 2023-24.
The college’s Board of Trustees approved the budget plan on June 25.
The coming year’s budget sets enrollment at 6,971 full-time equivalent (FTE) students – a 5.5 percent increase over the current academic year. The college has seen four consecutive years of rising enrollment, and the approved budget reflects data that shows a continued trend of modest enrollment growth.
Tuition for 2024-25 is set at $2,528 per semester for full-time students with New York State residence, which is unchanged from the current year’s tuition cost.
I’m proud to note that although Hudson Valley recently became the third largest community college in New York State – and the largest in upstate New York – our tuition costs remain lower than the average amongst the 30 community colleges in the SUNY system.
Presidential Search
The college has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a presidential search firm, and we anticipate responses back by Aug. 9. This is the first step to support the college community in establishing a collaborative and inclusive process in the search for a new president. More information on the selection and next steps the college will take with the selected firm will be communicated in August.
