Role of the Chief Diversity Officer on Search Committees
The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) works collaboratively with offices across campus, including but not limited to Human Resources, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Athletics, and Admissions, to elevate inclusiveness and implement best practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in such areas as the recruitment and retention of students, as well as senior administration, faculty and staff hires.
• The CDO collaborates with Human Resources to develop an administrative, faculty and staff recruitment and retention strategy that continuously improves campus efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in recruitment. • The CDO will send vacancy notices out to various community networks to draw from a larger pool of diverse candidates.
• The CDO will engage the Search Committee chairs for the need to join a search committee to ensure fairness and equity.
• The CDO will keep the President abreast of the findings of the search process.
