William Eden Waldin, devoted husband of Valerie Lang Waldin, Associate Professor Emerita, and son-in-law of HVCC Board of Trustees Chairman Emeritus, the Honorable Conrad H. Lang, Jr., passed into eternal life on Aug. 18 at approximately 6:55 a.m.
“Billy” had valiantly battled stage 4 metastatic lung cancer from May 2017 to the present. Although he was given six to 12 months to live upon diagnosis, he defied the odds, as he had for his entire life.
Billy enlisted in the United States Navy in 1977, crossed ranks to officer status, and rose quickly to rank of Lieutenant Commander for the country he loved.
A formal obituary will appear in local newspapers on Sunday, Aug. 28.
Services are as follows:
Date: Aug. 31, 2022 (Wednesday)
Time: 4 to 7 p.m.
Place: Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, Glass Lake, 2691 NY-43, Averill Park
4 to 6:30 — Guests will pay respects, have the option of viewing a video with key moments of his life, and to reminisce.
6:30 — Eulogy by Val Lang Waldin, followed by a few words from Father Tom Holmes. Close friends and family are welcome to share brief words about Billy.
A private burial will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery on Sept. 1.
