Saving Grace fundraiser

Thank you for taking the time to consider partnering with us on a most worthy endeavor in honor of my daughter and her remarkable story. While this evening will certainly honor our precious girl, the larger goal is to raise funds toward launching a not-for-profit organization called Saving Grace Adoptions.

Saving Grace Adoptions will exist to help facilitate adoptions for children with special needs through financial and educational support for families. Every child deserves a forever home and I believe many more families would adopt children with special needs if they simply had more support and education. Hailey Grace has been an incredible blessing to our family, but we certainly could have used some extra help along the way when we first embarked on this journey. SGA will be just that!

Hailey’s Story
Hailey was born premature at 21 weeks gestational maturity. Her birth mother was unaware she had cancer when she became pregnant. Her illness caused her to deliver early and Hailey arrived on June 27, 2012, weighing only 495 grams. She was given a four percent chance of survival and lived at Albany Med’s NICU for eight months before being discharged and accepted at St. Margaret’s Center. Due to her health condition, Hailey’s birth mother was unable to care for Hailey and Hailey continued to live at St. Margaret’s.

Being friends of the family, we felt led to open up our home to Hailey in an effort to get her out of a hospital environment and into a loving home with primary caregivers. When she first moved in with us, she was almost 2-years-old and just barely sitting up on her own. She was blind, on a feeding tube, and developmentally delayed in all areas. We were told she may never walk, never talk and never eat on her own.

God obviously had a different plan! Hailey has overcome every obstacle that has been dealt her and is now a strong, healthy, spirited young lady, who is going into second grade! Other than severe visual impairment and some learning delays, Hailey is a perfectly healthy and typical kid who talks (boy, does she talk!), runs and eats completely on her own. We were saddened by her birth mother’s passing, but we felt completely honored to give her Mom the gift of knowing that her precious angel would grow up in a loving home.

Adoption has been an immeasurable blessing to our family and Hailey’s special story brings hope and faith to everyone she meets. You can be a part of spreading that hope by partnering with us for “Hailey’s Vision,” our fundraiser (see below)! Hailey sees so much more than anyone ever expected she would. But she also has FULL vision of a brighter future for all children with special needs. We believe that we can do great good in this world as we share Hailey’s story and partner with families during the adoption process. Your gift will go toward kick-starting Saving Grace Adoptions!
