We would like to share with the campus community that a scholarship fund has been established in memory of Chris Helwig in honor and recognition of her longtime service to HVCC. Those of us who had the privilege to know and work with Chris know how much this scholarship would have meant to her.

Amount of Scholarship: $1,000
Type of Award: Academic Merit and/or Financial Need
Purpose: This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Christine Helwig, her legacy of valuing education and her commitment to helping others. Chris dedicated over 37 years of her life to Hudson Valley Community College. She began her journey at HVCC in 1980, working in the HR department, and her commitment and passion for the college’s growth were evident throughout her career until she retired as a Dean in 2017. She truly embodied the spirit of HVCC and played an integral role in shaping its evolution.
Eligibility Criteria: Awarded to a full-time, matriculated student enrolled in the Public Administration Studies or Business Administration or Education degree program with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher. Preference will be given to a resident of Rensselaer County.
