The 2016-2017 All-USA Community College Academic Team and the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Programs will continue! This means that they will be awarding nearly $400,000 in scholarships to outstanding community college students. We have the opportunity to nominate up to two students to participate in this competition, and our college has the opportunity to receive national press recognition should one of our nominees be identified as a scholar.
In addition to recognition by USA TODAY, Follett, and Coca-Cola, nominees to these programs are recognized in All-State Academic Team programs held in 38 states. All-State Team programs may offer students academic scholarships, stipends, newspaper coverage, medallions and/or certificates.
At this time, we are seeking qualified applications. The scholarships look to award students with outstanding academic rigor and grade point averages; participation in honors programs; awards, honors, and recognition for academic achievement, and service to the college and community. Letters of recommendations are required.
The focal point of the application is the essay centered around one endeavor undertaken by the student that utilized his or her community college education to improve his or her community or school. Judges look for innovative, creative, original and lasting achievements or undertakings.
This scholarship is open to both Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and non-PTK members. Non-PTK members, please visit www.ptk.org, select “LOGIN” at the top of the screen, then click the sign up for free access link located on the right side of the page and follow the prompts to create an account. Select the link in the center of the page that says “2016-2017 Fall Scholarship Application.”
PTK members, please visit https://my.ptk.org and log in using your PTK username (your email address used at the time of accepting membership) and password. If you have forgotten your password, click “Forgot Password” on the login page and follow the prompts to change the password. Select the link in the center of the page that says “2016-2017 Fall Scholarship Application.”
Applications must be completed by Nov. 18 including submission of letters of recommendations. After all applications have been received, you will be notified if you have been selected as a nominee.
