As previously shared with the campus community, the college is working with Corbin Design Associates on a comprehensive wayfinding and signage design plan that will improve navigation of the main campus and extension sites.
This work is the result of a design RFP that was awarded in summer 2020 and was a recommendation of the college’s most recent master plan. During the summer, Corbin and the college finalized exterior and interior design plans, and the college selected ID Sign Systems to oversee fabrication and begin the installation of new signage on campus. (Rendered examples of new signage are shown below.)
Construction on new college entrance signage is set to begin Tuesday, July 27 with demolition of the signs located at the NE corner of Holiday Drive and Route 4. Within the next few weeks, demolition of the North and South Road college entrance signs will occur as well. New entrance or location signs will be completed at Holliday Drive, the Parking Garage, Williams Road, and the South entrance of the Lang building before the college opens for the fall semester. Due to their size and complexity, North and South Road sign completion is scheduled for mid-to-late October. Temporary DOT directional signs will be located near these two entrances until construction is completed.
These items will mark the completion of phase I of the campus-wide wayfinding and signage project, with more phases to come. Some of the benefits to look forward to include:
- Replacement of outdated technology with much larger state-of-the-art full-color LED message boards at both primary entrances to the main campus
- South Road entrance sign upgraded to same grade of sign as North Road to designate primary entrance
- New large sign at Williams Road to designate secondary entrance
- New Parking Garage illuminated identification sign at top of garage
- Replacement of Holliday Way sign with new entrance archway to identify main entrance for visitors to the campus
- Illumination and reflective paints and lettering used on all signs for enhanced visibility 24/7
- New sign at south entrance of Lang building to identify and welcome students to new Questar III and HVCC STEM High School.
