Softball Off to Best Start in Eight Years

 

The softball team (8-2) defeated Columbia-Greene Community College (1-3), 11-2 and 13-2, on Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, Meghan Matan (Shaker/Latham) hit a grand slam pacing the way for the Vikings. Molly McDonough (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) provided further run support producing four RBIs and Kate Cahrenger (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) got the win on the mound.

In game two, Matan picked up where she left off in game one going 2-4 with a double. Megan Mullholland (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) and Aimee Lefebvre (Waterford-Halfmoon/Waterford) each went 2-4 at the plate and Lindsey Christopher (Stillwater/Stillwater) drove in two runs. Cherish Kilventon (Cohoes/Cohoes) got her fourth win on the season.

The Viking women are off to their best start in over eight seasons going 8-2 through their first 10 games. The team travels to SUNY Delhi on Thursday for a double-header starting at 3 p.m.
