The softball team (7-7) defeated Fulton-Montgomery Community College (0-14), 15-1 and 7-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Maggie Miller (Maple Hill/Schodack) pitched game one, picking up her fourth win of the year, striking out seven and allowing no earned runs. Sierra Bailey (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) led the Vikings with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs. Emily Johnson (Tamarac/Wynantskill) recorded two hits and 3 RBIs, and Miller chipped in two hits and two RBIs.
In game two, Shayla Morris (Berlin/Berlin) posted her third win on the mound, while Miller came in the final two innings to earn the save. Miller went 3-4 at the plate, and Sam Mattey (Lansingburgh/Lansingburgh) added three hits and three RBIs. Alyssa Hand (Columbia/East Greenbush) and Katie Traver (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park) each posted two hits in the shutout victory.
The softball team hosts Corning on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
