Special election for Faculty Council of Community Colleges

Due to the retirement of Hudson Valley Community College’s previous Faculty Council of Community Colleges (FCCC) delegate, the Academic Senate is holding a special election to fill this important post.

The FCCC is an important connection Hudson Valley has with our fellow SUNY community colleges. This election is for a three-year appointment starting immediately after the election. Voting is open to full-time faculty

We are pleased to announce three candidates for the position. Voting will be electronic and an email to the full-time faculty will be sent soon. Please take a moment to review the three candidates below (listed in alphabetical order).

Candidate for FCCC Delegate
Paul Charbel, Ph.D.

I am a Faculty Instructor in the English, Foreign Languages and English as a Second Language Department, and I’ve been teaching English at Hudson Valley since 2016. Before HVCC, I worked as an adjunct at Mohawk Valley Community College, the County College of Morris, SUNY Polytechnic (Utica), and The College of St. Rose. Aside from the Senate, I am currently on the Faculty Workshop Day committee as well as Threads, the college magazine that showcases student writing and artwork. As FCCC delegate, I will work diligently to not only share our unique experience at Hudson Valley, but to also communicate back the trends, changes, and best practices of the FCCC to our Senate.

Candidate for FCCC Delegate
Professor Brian S. Farr

Hello HVCC Faculty Members! I’m Brian Farr, and I’m asking for your vote as the FCCC Delegate in the Election for the week of Feb. 17. I first came to the college in the 1990’s and enrolled in the Chemical Dependency Program. Hudson Valley launched my career as a Substance Abuse Counselor and gave me the courage and support I needed to continue my education and earn a teaching degree. Things only got better when I returned to the college in 2010 and began working with a great team in the Human Services and Chemical Dependency Department! Sometimes it seems surreal that I’m able to work with such wonderful and dedicated friends and faculty, not to mention the thrill of instructing and mentoring our students as they become vital assets as helpers in our communities. Another aspect of this work that I love is the collaboration we have with agencies that host our students during their internships. When I learned that the FCCC Delegate has the opportunity to meet and work with other SUNY community schools for our common good, I knew it would be a great fit! I would be honored to serve in this role and hope that you will cast a vote for Farr this week!
