Spring 2022 Blackboard Trainings

Hello!

Teaching in-person or remote? The Center for Distance and Online Learning is pleased to offer our popular Blackboard Basics training series again this Spring 2022, as well as a new training — Getting Started with Blackboard.

Getting Started with Blackboard

If you have little to no experience with Blackboard, this training will get you started with the very basics. This training is designed for individuals getting started with Blackboard, learning about the required tools at HVCC and ADA compliance. There is one, 1.5-hour session to complete Getting Started with Blackboard. One-on-one appointments after the training are recommended for individuals who would like further assistance. There are no prerequisites for this training. Training Schedule sign up.

Blackboard Basics Workshop

The Blackboard Basics workshop series will prepare faculty to support their face-to-face (F2F) or remote (set meeting time) instruction using the college’s learning management system, Blackboard. Web-enhancing your course using Blackboard can range from providing students with easier access to course documents, to using new approaches to teaching and learning, such as taking tests, submitting assignments or discussions.

Blackboard Basics Important Prerequisites

While this class is appropriate for absolute beginners, it does require an understanding of basic computer file management, the Windows operating system, and the Internet and WWW. If you need help with basic computing skills, please discuss it with your Instructional Designer and they will set you up with a mentor for ongoing support. This series will not include training in basic computing skills.

Blackboard Basics Workshop Outline

  • Module 1: The Blackboard Environment
  • Module 2: Creating and Adding Content
  • Module 3: Communication Tools
  • Module 4: Multimedia and Lecture Tools
  • Module 5: Assessment Tools
