Student Senate sponsors “Sock Drawer” campaign

The “Sock Drawer” campaign is a Student Senate-sponsored initiative, established this year, to collect socks, underwear and undershirts for distribution to local shelters, food pantries, churches and whomever may be in need in the community.

Beginning in November, which is National Homeless Awareness Month, faculty, staff and students will be able to make a contribution by purchasing male and female undergarments and placing them in plastic bins that will be located around campus. Items also may be brought to the Student Activities Office, Siek Campus Center 210.

Socks, underwear and undershirts often are in short supply for those in need because traditional clothing drives focus on used items, whereas undergarments must be donated new and in packages.

For more information, please contact the Student Activities Office at 629-7348.
