The Office of Community & Professional Education is pleased to announce that its 2015 Summer Kids on Campus Program wraps up Friday, Aug. 21.
The final camp — Circus Theatricks — will hold its performance at 3 p.m. on Friday in the Maureen Stapleton Theater. The campus community is welcome to attend.
Nearly 900 campers participated in a variety of programs on the main campus, at TEC-SMART and at Bethlehem Middle School this summer. Programs included athletics, theater, circus, cooking, science, computers, arts and technology. More than 100 sections were available to campers.
We are fortunate to have several of our Hudson Valley Community College coaches including Cathie Becker (golf), Travis Cooke (men’s soccer) and Mike Muehling (football) lead our athletic camp programs.
In our Summer Academy program, Hudson Valley faculty presented courses. Christine Jenkins (biology, chemistry and physics) presented a course called the Science of Sports, Wenda Quidort (biology, chemistry and physics) presented Nature is Calling. Both were new classes that were very well received by students and parents.
Melissa Holmes (business administration) brought back her ever popular Forensics Classes turning Williams Hall into a crime scene.
The success of these programs could not be achieved without the support of many offices and departments on campus. A special shout out to Public Safety, Physical Plant, Athletics, Human Resources, Payroll, Communications and Marketing, Graphics, Central Receiving, Viking Video Technologies, Information Technology Services, and Health Services. And a special thanks to The Foundation for securing funds to provide 30 children with a scholarship to attend programs. Without this continued support we would not be able to provide children with an educational and fun camp experience.
