SUNY Board Welcomes Newest Member: Faculty Council of Community Colleges Leader

The State University of New York Board of Trustees and Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher yesterday welcomed Dr. Tina Good as the newest Board member, following legislation signed by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo last month that provided a seat on the Board for the president of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges.

Legislation signed last month by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo provided for an ex-officio, non-voting seat on the SUNY Board, for the president of the Faculty Council on Community Colleges, increasing the size of the board from 17 to 18 members. The president of the Faculty Senate, which represents faculty at the SUNY state-operated campuses, was given an ex-officio seat on the Board in 2006.

Dr. Tina Good was elected President of the Faculty Council of Community Colleges in April 2008 and took office on July 1, 2009.  She has also served as its Secretary, Treasurer and Vice President.  She was the co-chair for the SUNY General Education Assessment Review (GEAR) Group and the SUNY Joint Committee for Transfer and Articulation and currently serves as the Chair of the SUNY Steering Committee on Student Mobility.

Good served as the President of the Ammerman Campus Faculty Senate at Suffolk County Community College for five years and has chaired the College’s Curriculum Committee for 10 years. She is a Professor of English and the Faculty Coordinator for Assessment at Suffolk County Community College.
