Thank you to Leah for bringing the carbon footprint that foods create to our attention. All our small collective actions will add up to larger more positive impact for our Earth.
Some of the things that make some foods have a larger carbon footprint include: energy (both mechanical and human) it takes to raise the food, transportation to bring the food to the table, natural resources used to grow it, techniques used to farm, type of land used to grow, packaging, and waste generated in the production.
Faculty, staff and students, please share your sustainable ideas for our weekly tip to j.coons@hvcc.edu.
