What is embodied energy? Embodied energy is the energy consumed by all of the processes associated with the production of a building or products, from the mining and processing of natural resources to manufacturing, transport and product delivery.
Let’s take a look at some materials you will find in a building and the energy used to make each material:

So when choosing materials to purchase, take a look at the products that are in it and it will help determine how much energy and consequently carbon was used to produce it.
