Sustainability Tip of the Week
A simple wish for a better tomorrow
My floor feels cold!

Calculate the contact coefficient (kCal/Cm2hr0.5)
The higher the contact coefficient, the better the material is at drawing heat out of the feet
- Concrete — 25
- Linoleum — 9
- Oak — 7
- Pine — 4
- Cork — 2
Of course, a pair of warm socks should help matters.
You also feel cold if you sit near a window, heat travels from hot to cold so if your body is warmer than the surface temperature of the window it will draw the heat away from you and you may feel chilled.
Stay safe, warm and be well.
Faculty, staff and students please share your sustainable ideas for our weekly tip to j.coons@hvcc.edu.
