I am overwhelmed with the e-mails, calls and visits from well-wishers as I wrap up my final days at HVCC. I am so flattered at the attention that I am not sure what to say. I am very glad to have worked here, as I have met some wonderful people and learned a great deal.
Did you know that you were teaching me more than I was teaching you? I’ll always remember the wonderful conversations we shared while learning where to click and what tools to use. You graciously listened to all of my ideas about the wonders of online teaching and the uses of organizations. You made me think about answers to questions I would not even have thought to ask! These are the moments that made the all the difference between a pretty ho-hum day and an interesting and pleasant career here. I can’t thank you all enough for the time we’ve spent together and all that you’ve taught me.
I hope to meet new and equally interesting faculty and colleagues at my new position. And if my next supervisor is half as considerate and has even one tenth of the positive energy of my current supervisor, Sue Gallagher, I will count myself among the lucky ones once again. Sue, you have the patience of a true educator and your employees as well as your students are the beneficiaries of that. You consistently set a wonderful example of how to treat people, something often overlooked in our busy lives. I have received many compliments over the years and I just realized today that I was only following your example.
Thank you everyone. I am off to a new leg of my career a better person and more capable professional for my experience at Hudson Valley.
