HVCC Refund Choice Cards are being mailed to all matriculated students.
These are NOT credit cards.
Students will need to use the card to authenticate their identity and let us know how they want to receive their refunds.
Why might a student receive a refund, you ask? Many students receive financial aid refunds. (Last fall 5,800 students received refunds totaling more than $10 million dollars.) In addition to financial aid refunds, students might also receive a refund if they change their schedule, for example drop a class with a lab fee during the refund period or perhaps because their class is cancelled. Not all students will receive a refund during their time at the college, but if they do, we need to know how to deliver their funds. So all students should make their choice!
The college partnered with Higher One this year so we can now offer students the following options:
(1) they can choose direct deposit to their personal bank account OR
(2) they can use the HVCC Refund Choice Card as a debit card by opening an account with Higher One OR
(3) they can opt to have their funds delivered via check (which will be issued by Higher One).
Students are receiving information about the card with their registration bills and their financial aid award letters, as well as in their student e-mail account. There also is a lot of great information on our Website (search on ‘refund’), and students will receive information and instructions with the card.
Please direct students to the Website or the Cashier’s Office if they have any questions.
Like their ID card, students will receive one card for their time at Hudson Valley (not a new card every semester) , so students should keep the card.
We’re pleased to offer this new service to students. Students won’t have to come to campus (on-line students), or take time off from work (evening students), or stand in line at the Cashier’s Office to pick up their refund check anymore! And students can choose what works best for them!
