The Hudsonian earns award at national conference

The Hudsonian, the college’s student newspaper, placed ninth in the nation in the two-year school category in the Associate Collegiate Press Best of Show Awards during the National College Media Conference held Oct. 25 to 28 in Louisville, KY.

“This is a very new, but talented staff that works hard every week and is so deserving of this honor,” said Rachel Bornn, English professor and faculty advisor to the Hudsonian staff, in announcing the award.

Colleges and universities from across the country attended the conference and participated in various competitions and workshops. Awards were given to the top 10 entries in the two-year tabloid category.

The Hudsonian is an independent and student-run weekly publication. It first was published in 1961, following The Technician, the student newspaper when the college was known as Hudson Valley Technical Institute (1954-1959).

The Hudsonian hits the stands every Tuesday throughout the school year and maintains a website at www.hudsonian.org. Students wishing to join an award-winning newspaper may contact The Hudsonian at hudsonian@hvcc.edu.
