The Science of Intelligent Design discussion at noon today, March 4

In its third session, the open student discussions under the topic “God and Science — Are they compatible?” will investigate the emerging science of intelligent design. The discussion will be held on the second floor of the Siek Campus Center at noon on Monday, March 4.  The same session will be repeated at 2 p.m. at the same location.

The danger of abductive reasoning will be addressed, and the students will look into the differences between simplicity, complexity, and specified complexity as related to the information content of DNA and the presence of irreducibly complex biological structures. The scientific process of gathering competing hypotheses as to the causes of events, carefully sorting through them, and then settling on the one which best explains the event will be reviewed and discussed.

All are welcome!
