The Teaching Gallery, located on the ground floor of the Administration Building, will host a reception — open to students, faculty, staff and the public — from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 for two exhibitions:
Shawn Theodore – One Leaf Does Not a Cypress Make
Philadelphia-based artist Shawn Theodore works in photography, videography, and collage. His practice merges real and hypothesized African American experiences set within contemporary environments. Theodore attended the Tyler School of Art and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, public relations and advertising from Temple University.
Artist Talk: 3 to 4 p.m., Bulmer Telecommunications Center Auditorium
Theodore will discuss his work and the exhibit.
“Garden,” a site specific installation by Professor Thomas Lail
Lail’s oversized rendering of a William Morris wallpaper pattern, scales the trellis of the Administration Building’s glass atrium, reflecting on the history of glassed-in winter gardens, cultivated nature, and the dream of Utopian architectures of transparency. The ongoing installation project is supported by the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation’s Stephen L. Hyatt Fine Arts Fund and installed with assistance from the college’s Graphics Department and Physical Plant, and NoName Graphics, Troy.
One Leaf Does Not a Cypress Make closes closes Saturday, Oct. 20. The Teaching Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, closed Sunday & Monday.
