Cross Country participated in the SUNY Morrisville Mustang Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 9 with the men’s team finishing in fifth place out of 12 teams. Subri Ismail paced the men’s team by placing 21st with a time of 30:56 in the 8K race. The women’s team was led by Sarah Rosenberger for the second straight week, finishing the 6K race in a time of 27:58. The cross country program will compete again on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Bard.
Football (0-2) lost a tough home opener on Saturday to nationally ranked No. 8 Lackawanna College from Scranton, PA, 47-15. The Vikings points were scored by a pair of touchdown passes: Wesley Manning to MarShon Hoover in the second quarter and Tajmaleeak Beckett to Michael Allen in the fourth. Football is on the road on Sunday, Sept. 17 when the team travels to face Ithaca JV at 1 p.m.
Men’s Soccer (2-1) won twice at home this week, shutting out Fulton-Montgomery 3-0 with goals from Ryan Euell, Ethan Samarija and Cetin Karaca on Tuesday, Sept. 5. The men also defeated Ulster 1-0 on Thursday, Sept. 7 with the Vikings lone goal coming from Euell. The men travel to Adirondack on Wednesday, Sept. 13 and will be home this Saturday, Sept. 16 to host Corning at 3 p.m.
Women’s Soccer (1-1) won its first game of the season defeating Holyoke, 3-2, the evening of Thursday, Sept. 7 at home. The Vikings collected goals from Susannah Frisch, Anna Colarusso and Sydnee Metzold (PK). The women travel with the men’s team to Adirondack on Wednesday and will be at home on Saturday, Sept. 16 to face Corning at 1 p.m.
Women’s Tennis (0-1) dropped its first match of the 2017 season on Sunday, Sept. 10 as Mohawk Valley defeated the Vikings, 7-2. The Vikings two match wins were earned by No. 2 Madeline Gibbons and No. 3 Sarah Sampson in singles play. The women’s tennis team is on the road on Thursday, Sept. 14 at SUNY Delhi at 4 p.m.
Women’s Volleyball (0-4) participated in its first pod play at Adirondack on Saturday, Sept. 9, dropping three matches to Finger Lakes (3-0), Monroe (3-0) and Genesee (3-2). Meghan Woods paced the Vikings defensively with 43 digs on the day, including 26 digs against Genesee.
