Men’s basketball (9-12) has now won five straight games after going 2-0 last week. The Vikings defeated Adirondack, 87-61, on Jan. 31 and Schenectady, 73-61, on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Mitchell Dame led the Vikings on Wednesday evening with 16 points and has now scored double figures in three of the last four wins for Hudson Valley. Brandon Degrasse scored all of his 13 points in the first half of the game to help the Vikings jump out to an early lead on Adirondack.
On Saturday, the men’s basketball team partnered with the athletic department and the Hudson Valley Community College Foundation to hold a fundraiser for their teammate, Justus Simon, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The Vikings were led by freshman Brandon Degrasse (Bronx/E.A. Reynolds) with 22 points and sophomore Dave Reo (North Greenbush/Catholic Central), who finished the game with 17 points.

Women’s basketball (14-7) also completed an undefeated week, going 2-0 with wins over Adirondack (75-64) and Schenectady (77-58) this last weekend and have now won five straight games.
In the win against Adirondack, Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) led all scorers with a game-high 20 points and shot 7-for-15 from the floor, including 4-for-11 from behind the arc. Kreiger has reached 20 points in seven games this year and currently leads the Vikings with 14.8 points per game this season.
The Vikings entered the Schenectady game leading the nation with 180 made three-point field goals and they continued their hot shooting from behind the arc this afternoon. As a team, the Vikings made 13 baskets from long range to increase their national lead. Hannah Kreiger (Brunswick/Tamarac) led the Vikings with 24 points on a game-high eight three-point field goals.

Men’s and women’s bowling participated in the Boulevard Classic, hosted by Schenectady and the Schenectady Invitational last weekend. The men’s bowling team finished sixth with a score of 6,994. The women’s bowling team finished third in the Boulevard Classic with a score of 6,149.
Spencer McClellan was the Vikings top bowler as he finished 12th overall with an all-events score of 1,106. Kyla Day finished seventh overall in the women’s standings with an all-events score of 994.
