This week in athletics

 

Men’s lacrosse (5-3) finished last week with a 2-0 road record after defeating Herkimer 10-7 and Mercyhurst North East 7-5. Sophomore Aaron Thorpe finished the week with eight goals and three assists.

Upcoming Games: Wednesday, April 11 vs. Mohawk Valley (6 p.m.)

Baseball (3-5) played its first game following a seven-game spring trip in which the team finished 3-4 during the eight-day trip. The Vikings dropped their game at Monroe College, 11-1, in five innings. The Vikings couldn’t overcome a big seven-run inning for Monroe in the third inning.

Track and Field had another strong showing this past weekend at the Pioneer Classic held at Smith College, MA. On route to 18, top-10 finishes and two event wins, the Vikings added to the number of athletes that have qualified for the Division III National Championships in May.

Miles James (200m & 400m), Elijah Washington (Hammer), Mercedes Planvasky (800m) and Alayna Fredenburg (Javelin) all qualified for the National Meet on May 12.

Upcoming Meets: Saturday, April 14 at Delhi Invitational (10 a.m.)

Softball (0-0) has been on the wrong side of the poor weather and bad field conditions as they have not played a game yet this season with 10 games being canceled or postponed to-date.

Golf tees off its 2018 season this weekend as the team travels to play in the Onondaga Invitational on Saturday, April 14 and then will travel to play in the Tompkins-Cortland Invitational on Sunday, April 15.
