Baseball (15-9) finished the week with a 5-1 record, including a four-game sweep over Schenectady. Baseball has a home and away series with Jefferson this week on Tuesday and Thursday before closing out the weekend on the road at Columbia-Greene on Saturday and at Mohawk Valley on Sunday.
Jackson Wenstrom and Sal Pezzolla are leading the team offensively as Wenstrom is hitting .482 with eight home runs, eight doubles and 33 RBIs on 40 hits. Pezzolla was named last week’s NJCAA Region 3 Player of the Week and is batting .386 with 16 runs scored.
Jacob LaFerriere and James Rubino are leading the team with three wins and have each tossed over 20.0 innings this year.
Men’s Golf successfully hosted its first Region 3 match at Frear Park on Saturday. The Vikings welcomed nine golf programs to the Capital Region to compete in one of the final regional qualifiers before the NJCAA Regionals.
As a team, the Vikings finished tied for fourth place with a final team score of 340. Scott Zwinge placed fourth in the individual standings with a score of 78.
Golf is back in action on Sunday, May 6 when the team travels to participate in the Genesee Invitational at the Batavia Country Club.
Softball (2-12) played four hard fought games this week, but was unable to get over the hump offensively. The weekend games were postponed and canceled. The Vikings are home again on Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 to play Tompkins-Cortland and Fulton-Montgomery, respectively.

Paige Roberts is leading the Vikings offense as she is batting .485 with five multi-hit games in the last eight games. Matti Hayes is also playing well this season as she is batting .333 and is currently on a six-game hit streak.
Track and Field participated in its final meet before the NJCAA Region 3 meet on Saturday as the team traveled to RPI for the Capital District Classic. The track and field program will now travel to participate in the NJCAA Region 3 meet on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4 in Little Falls, NY.
Men’s Lacrosse (9-4) concluded its 2018 season after falling to Tompkins-Cortland, 11-8, in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 3 Tournament. The season concludes as the Vikings improved on its 2017 season by winning three more games, which included a breakout season by sophomore Thorpe. Thorpe finished the season second in Vikings history with 48 goals and 78 points on the year.
