Bowling: The Hudson Valley men’s bowling team finished 18th at the Intercollegiate Team Championships sectional qualifiers over the weekend in Stratford, NJ. As a team, the Vikings accumulated a final score of 11,118 pins.
The conclusion of sectionals brings an end to the 2018-19 bowling season. The Vikings finished second in the conference standings with an overall record of 24-6 and placed fifth in the final standings at the NJCAA Region 3 tournament.
Donald Baker (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk), Michael Taber (New Baltimore/Coxsackie-Athens) and Christian Caputo (Rotterdam/Schalmont) earned First-Team All-Conference recognition this season and Baker claimed the conference High-Triple of the Season (760) and the High-Game of the season (286), which were both obtained on Feb. 15 at Hilltop Bowl in Troy.
Men’s Lacrosse: The Hudson Valley Community College men’s lacrosse team (2-1) split its weekend road trip with a 6-4 win at Ocean County on Saturday and a 17-7 defeat at No. 10 ranked Mercer on Sunday.
Baseball: The baseball program kicks off the 2019 season this weekend when the team travels to Florida for its annual spring trip. The season begins on Sunday, March 17 with a game against Triton College at 1 p.m.
Football: Hudson Valley Community College Director of Athletics Justin Hoyt named Don Jones Jr. as the college’s 11th head coach of the Vikings football program. The Springfield, Mass. native comes to Hudson Valley Community College from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, where he served as the program’s co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.
