This week in athletics:
Hudson Valley athletics is searching for student workers ($12.50/hr) to work our home games. Interested students please visit the athletics department in MCD 219 to sign up!
Cross Country: The Hudson Valley Community College men’s and women’s cross country program saw its season come to a close Saturday as team members traveled to compete in the 2021 NJCAA Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships.
The men’s team started the day off with the running of the 8,000-meter championship course. Hudson Valley had two runners place inside the top-25 and were led by top runner, Shazim Permaul, who was named a NJCAA All-American with his fourth-place finish in the individual standings with a final time of 26:33.
The women’s team closed out the day off with the running of the 5,000-meter championship course. The Vikings top runner was Olivia Skylstad, who finished 34th overall with an official time of 23:20. Hickory Whelan and Eva Sgambettera were the next Vikings to cross the finish line as they did together in 38th(23:54) and 39th (23:56) place, respectively.
Men’s Basketball: The men’s basketball program finished its opening week with a 1-1 record with a win over Adirondack and a loss on the road at Rockland. They are back in action this weekend when they travel to play Finger Lakes on Saturday and Corning on Sunday.
Women’s Basketball: The women’s basketball program dropped a close match to Adirondack in their only game last week. They are back in action this weekend when they travel to play Finger Lakes on Saturday and Corning on Sunday.
Men’s and Women’s Bowling: Students interested in joining the bowling team in the spring 2022 semester should contact Coach Catie Bell (c.bell@hvcc.edu) to sign up today!

Our next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 1 when the men’s and women’s basketball teams host Onondaga.
