Thoughts from Campus Ministry

In our society, Valentine’s Day is generally seen as a day to celebrate romantic love. It is a wonderful affirmation of the kind of commitment and loving care that are essential to any successful long-term relationship.

However, we may tend to lose sight of some other types of love that support us and allow us to thrive: love of God, love of family and friends, and love of self.  Sadly, love of self may totally get lost in the shuffle as we try to satisfy the needs of our loved ones.

Take some time during this Valentine season to love yourself by forgiving yourself and letting go of past mistakes, having confidence in your abilities and gifts, nurturing your spiritual life, and by pursuing your dreams and the causes that matter most to you.

It might seem selfish but when you take care of yourself first, the effects of that love will be felt far and wide.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Peace and Blessings
