New Cannabis Construction Program. Tuition free for those who qualify. Build a new career in New York State's emerging legal cannabis industry! The Capital District Educational Opportunity Center (C.D.E.O.C.) is excited to offer a new building trades program focused on New York State’s emerging and expansive legal cannabis industry: Cannabis Construction. The CDEOC is dedicated to addressing the needs of adults in New York State who have faced multiple barriers to education, both economic and social. This includes the thousands of individuals from low-income communities of color disproportionately targeted, arrested, and incarcerated for cannabis possession in the past. This new program aims to create opportunities in the field for training, employment, and entrepreneurship. Students will learn: 1) Specific skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC to build indoor and outdoor grow house structures; 2) How to get materials and products to construct, operate, and maintain a grow house; 3) Typical start-up costs and anticipated harvest per square foot. Course details: This is a 10-week course with classes held twice a week on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The program begins on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, and we're enrolling now! Visit www.hvcc.edu/eoc to learn more about eligibility and how to enroll.
