Tools for Creating Accessible Electronic Content

In June of 2019, the SUNY Board of Trustees approved a mandate for all 64 SUNY campuses with regard to Electronic Information Technology and Accessibility. As a result of this mandate, the Center for Access and Assistive Technology (CAAT) has identified Deque University and SensusAccess as viable tools for faculty and staff as they provide accessible electronic content to the campus community.

SensusAccess is a tool that may be utilized by the college community to create a more inclusive and accessible document. As an employee of Hudson Valley Community College, you now have the ability to upload documents and receive them back in an accessible format via your e-mail. The SensusAccess link is available on the CAAT website under the Assistive Technology tab.

Deque University provides self-paced training courses on accessibility for online settings. The courses run from beginner to advanced and are geared for faculty, staff, and IT professionals. SUNY has graciously provided all SUNY institutions with a one-year membership, so the courses are free, but only for a limited time! Visit the CAAT website to sign up for Deque U and get started.

If you have questions regarding the use of these services, please feel free to contact us at CAAT@hvcc.edu.
