Training resources for employees

Training Support at Hudson Valley Community College

Hello Campus Community,

I wanted to make everyone, especially supervisors, aware of the variety of programs that the college offers to support employee training in your department. Below is a list of valuable resources currently available.

Biz Library
Biz Library is one of the best learning management systems that is available free of charge for employees. It houses trainings that are mandated annually for all employees, as well as many other enlightening offerings. All employees have access to Biz Library and it is an excellent tool to help train your employees. The Single-Sign-On link for Biz Library is located on the Faculty and Staff page on the college website. (HVCC is fortunate that SUNY’s contract with Biz Library greatly reduces the cost for all community colleges. Human Resources is part of the SUNY administrator’s group that manages the system.)

Capital Employee Assistance Program
Capital EAP offers many trainings to support employees in both their professional and personal life. Trainings are often publicized in the Campus Chronicle and through the college’s Center for Professional Excellence.

Center for Professional Excellence
The college’s CPE, located in the BTC, continues to expand its offerings that once were focused on professional development for faculty to include resources of benefit to all employees. HR works with the CPE to support employee training. CPE courses are listed on the CPE calendar and posted in the Campus Chronicle, and usually offer credit toward one of the following certificates:

  • Academic Advising Certificate of Completion
  • Leadership Certification of Completion
  • Teaching and Learning Certification of Completion
  • Technology in the Classroom and Beyond Certification of Completion

ProKnowledge
Located in Latham, ProKnowledge also provides excellent training for employees. There is a fee for ProKnowledge’s offerings. (Employees who receive training completion certificates from ProKnowledge should forward them to HR via email [HR@hcvcc.edu] or Trakstar for inclusion in their personnel file.)

PRYOR Learning/Fred Prior Training
Pryor Learning is another excellent resource to train your employees. There is a fee for each course, but well worth it if you have money in your budget for professional development.
