Troy Civil War Event, June 4 & 5

This war was also called the War of the Rebellion and the War of Northern Aggression, among other names. More than 600,000 Americans died in that four year period. It is a piece of our history and will be very much in the news these next few years.

A Civil War Encampment will be held on June 4 and 5 at the Troy Masonic Hall on Route 2 (Brunswick Road), Troy. It is open free to the public. It is hosted by the 77th New York State Volunteer Infantry re-enactment group, a living history unit that is chartered by the New York State Education Department.

The event will feature at least three cannons, a sutler and period music. President Lincoln will be in attendance, and there will be units from both sides of the conflict. There also will be numerous displays and exhibits, including a period surgical unit, weaponry, Daughters of Union Veterans display and a display from the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway.

The grounds will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
