WestlawNext Workshop for News
Come experience WestlawNext, the Marvin library’s new legal, news and business database that offers a Google-like interface, simplicity of searching, and a law library unto itself. While WestlawNext is primarily a legal research tool, this new library database also partners with Reuters to create one of the most powerful news research tools available. Learn how to conduct research in worldwide news sources including news wires, blogs, traditional news sources – and much, much more. Staying current has never been made so simple. New Advisor Training
All new advisors and returning advisors interested in a “refresher” advising session are invited to attend New Advisor Training, designed to aid and enhance new and current advisors. This is a prerequisite for many of the subsequent Academic Advising workshops. This workshop will guide you through the introductory steps of becoming an effective first-time advisor and will focus on all of the following:
-Theories of Advising
-Advising first semester students
-The Early Warning System
-Introductory Banner Training

Attend this workshop to identify seven criteria for evaluating a web site and put them into practice. Bring a sample website to discuss.
