On Friday, Jan. 14, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm will be joined by U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Representative Paul Tonko and other local leaders to meet with President Roger Ramsammy, college leaders and workforce partners, as well as faculty and students, for early-afternoon tours of the Gene F. Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Skills and Lang Hall Welding Laboratory.
Attendance is by invitation only due to federal security and COVID-19 safety protocols.
Secretary Granholm’s campus visit follows a tour of the Port of Albany and press conference with Governor Kathy Hochul, Senator Gillibrand and Representative Tonko that will highlight the climate goals set out in Governor Hochul’s recent State of the State address and the Biden Administration’s commitment to expanding renewable energy and deploying strong secure power grids across the country.
The itinerary also includes tours of the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) and the facilities of GE Global Research.
