United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will host a press conference at 3 p.m. Friday, March 11 to announce the Made in America Manufacturing Communities Act of 2022. Local business partners, college leaders, faculty and students also are invited to attend the event in the Senior Lab of the Gene F. Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing Skills (CAMS).
The new legislation, introduced by Gillibrand and U.S. Representatives David Cicilline and Peter Meijer, will allow the Secretary of Commerce to designate certain areas as “manufacturing communities,” making them eligible for federal assistance to encourage domestic production.
In addition to Gillibrand and President Roger Ramsammy, Troy Mayor Patrick Madden and Katie Newcomb, chief economic development officer, Center for Economic Growth, are expected to speak during the press event.
