Update from Emergency Preparedness Committee

Recent events at colleges in our community and around the country highlight the importance of campus safety and emergency response procedures. Hudson Valley’s Emergency Preparedness Committee meets regularly to review college protocols, plan with local authorities and conduct drills. At the committee’s most recent meeting on Nov. 4, the group discussed a variety of topics, including:

– Training sessions attended recently by Public Safety
– Existing warning systems and testing
– Crisis communications procedures
– Plans for upcoming drills or tabletop exercises
– Technology upgrades for emergency communications
– Development of new resources for faculty and staff

As emergency planning and training continues, please share any thoughts or ideas with me. We all have a role in keeping the college safe, and we appreciate your input.

Thank you,

Rich Edwards
