Updating Brightspace Email Notifications

If you have recently attended or transferred from another SUNY school, your notification settings might be set to your former school email account. This could cause issues with third-party tools at HVCC such as VoiceThread.

Here’s how to have this changed:

  • Go to the SUNY Online Support Services Help Desk and submit the change request as a ticket with the following information:
    • The subject should read: “Convert my Brightspace account to HVCC”
    • The text of the ticket should read (note, change the content in the **): “Please transfer my Brightspace account from *PREVIOUS CAMPUS NAME* (*PREVIOUS CAMPUS EMAIL ACCOUNT*) to HVCC (*USERNAME*@hvcc.edu).”
  • Alternatively, you can send an email to SUNYOnlineHelp@suny.edu from your HVCC email account with the same information as above.

**Note: This is recommended only if you are no longer taking courses at the other campus or no longer have access to the email on the other campus.
