Whether you prefer the solitude of a good book or joining thousands of viewers to binge watch a favorite series, Neil Gaiman offers you countless hours of entertainment. He is one of the most celebrated writers of our time, whose popular and critically-acclaimed works bend genres while reaching audiences of all ages.

Gaiman is the bestselling author of “Neverwhere,” “Smoke and Mirrors,” “Fragile Things,” “Trigger Warning: Short Fictions and Disturbances,” “The Ocean at the End of the Lane” and much more.

Two, new books were published in 2020 – “The Neil Gaiman Reader: Selected Fiction” and “Pirate Stew,” a rhyming, read-aloud story about pirate babysitters who wreak havoc. (It’s illustrated by Chris Riddell. Visit mousecircus.com, Gaiman’s website for younger readers.) The novel “Good Omens – The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch,” a 1990 collaboration with Terry Pratchett, is an award-winning series currently available on Amazon Prime. Its ensemble cast includes David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Richardson, Jon Hamm, and Frances McDormand as the voice of God. Other Gaiman series are “American Gods” on Starz Cable Network, “Lucifer” on Netflix and the DC Comics book, “The Sandman,” in development for Netflix.

A self-described “feral child who was raised in libraries,” the author credits librarians with fostering a life-long love of reading. Gaiman is a passionate advocate for books and libraries, and a supporter and former board member of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. His blog (journal.neilgaiman.com) has over one million regular readers, and more than two million people follow him on Twitter.

Born in England, Gaiman lives in the United States and has taught at Bard College in Dutchess County since 2014. He has earned more than 40 distinguished prizes, including the International Horror Guild Award, World Fantasy Award, four Bram Stoker Awards and two British Science Fiction Awards.

This program is co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Program and English, Foreign Languages and English as a Second Language Department. Time will be allotted for Q&A.
