Since most employees now are working remotely, your office or department voicemail “greeting” and email “auto-reply” may need to be revised.
Voicemail
Consider using the voicemail greeting below if you are receiving telephone messages via email. (It assures the caller that their call/message will reach someone.)
“You’ve reached the Office of <NAME and/or DEPARTMENT> at Hudson Valley Community College. As of March 23rd, employees are working remotely, and all classes and college services are being offered online or at a distance. Please visit our website www.hvcc.edu for additional information or leave your name, phone number, email address and a brief message, so someone can get back to you. Messages left on this line are automatically forwarded to a staff member via email. Thank you.
Email Automatic Replies
Anyone working remotely is encouraged to remove any “auto-reply” message if they are able to check their email regularly. Auto-replies should be set for those who aren’t able to check email and should contain information on who to contact.
