Voices lecture Tuesday, Sept. 27: the 2016 Presidential Election

 

The Voices: A Library Lecture Series Committee is pleased to present “When Hating Mexicans and Muslims Wins Votes: Xenophobia and its Effects on the 2016 Presidential Election” by Rosemary Armao on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at noon in the BTC Auditorium.

Immigration, refugees and terrorism are vying with the economy as the biggest issues of the current presidential election. In the view of some, candidates have staked out positions that are racist and anti-American. Yet, these platforms fit into a long tradition of isolationism in the U.S. and have made several candidates popular. Rosemary Armao, journalism professor and investigative reporter, addresses these issues and more.
