Volunteer Opportunity: Weatherize Albany 2022

Join Operation Weatherize Albany 2022!!

Hudson Valley Community College students have an opportunity to join University at Albany students for a one-time, hands-on training session that will lead to volunteer work helping weatherize homes in Albany on Saturdays during November.

This year as part of HVCC’s community engagement efforts, student volunteers will be providing energy efficiency services in homes for people in the Capital Region. You have the opportunity to gain skills on weatherizing a home by joining the Albany Clean Energy Conservation Corps.

The required training session will be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22 and Saturday, Oct. 29 on the UAlbany campus. Use the Q Code below to obtain more information and sign up for the training. Supplemental training will be available through videos on energy conservation and renewable energy.

What you will learn:

  • How to improve energy efficiency in homes through basic Energy Conservation Hacks.
  • How to perform weatherization techniques, such as weather stripping, caulking, spray foam, window covers, outlet/light switch and door sweep insulation, and energy efficient light bulb installation.
  • Entry-level understanding of renewable energy options for homeowners and renters.

Volunteers also will take pride in knowing that there participation in Operation Weatherize Albany 2022 saves not only a homeowner’s money, but ENERGY! That means we are reducing carbon in the atmosphere. You will help out community members, address climate change, gain valuable life skills to weatherize your own residence and have a great addition to your resume. You’ll be doing your part to Save Our Planet and have some fun at the same time!
